Eligibility Requirements for U.S. Championships

This message is intended for competitors dancing in any U.S. National Championship at the upcoming U.S. National Amateur DanceSport Championships, March 7-10, 2018.  If you are entered in only Novice or Pre-Championship events you may disregard this message.  Also, if you are a U.S. citizen, or if you have resided in the USA for over the previous 12 months, you may disregard this message as well.

The NDCA Executive Committee has determined that the current rule VI.D.1. will NOT be enforced at this year’s National Amateur Championships in order to implement several changes to this rule that will then be enforced strictly at the 2019 U.S. National Amateur Championships.

The NDCA wishes to make sure that the eligibility rules can be accurately and evenly enforced in a timely manner for all competitors.  Consequently, beginning next year (2019), all competitors wishing to participate in a U.S. National Amateur Championship who are 1) not U.S. citizens, and 2) have not resided in the USA for at least 12 months beginning March 1, 2018, will be required to send a photocopy of their passport to the organizers of the U.S. National Amateur Championships that shows the date that they in fact entered the USA to become a resident.

The requirements to participate will be two-fold, and are spelled out below in the updated wording of the changed rules below.

NDCA Rule VI.D.1. – a.b.c. (updated)
